Description of Programs and Services: We provide food, shelter and clothing to homeless women and children at our homeless shelter. We provide services to our residents which include partnerships with other providers - WIC Hope, pediatric nurse, adult and child mental health screenings and ongoing therapy, substance abuse meetings, and we will shortly begin computer training. We have a full-time case manager which assists residents of the shelter and outreach program with advocacy, crisis intervention, housing, jobs, mental health and substance abuse treatment. We drug test upon intake. Our outreach program has a support group and educational component which strives to assist our clients and prevent a reoccurrence of homelessness. We have a new partnership with the Junior League which is a mentoring program and will provide resources for GED classes and job training. In addition, we have four transitional houses for prior shelter residents, after-school reading programs in two local elementary schools, and a summer program for first grade students lacking the reading skills they need.
Total number of people served: 892
