RE:                  2004
Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Fellows Program

The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2004 Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Fellows Program.  In December 2003, approximately twenty-five agency heads will be selected to participate in this management enhancement program. The group will be carefully constituted for an optimal mix of experience levels, range of services, agency sizes and situations, and other factors.  If you are the Executive Director of a 501(c)(3) agency whose primary mission is to directly assist disadvantaged residents of the Baltimore metropolitan area to improve their circumstances, you are eligible to apply.

The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Fellows Program provides hands-on, practical, interactive sessions focused on key elements of nonprofit management; exploration of issues important to agency leaders; the chance to meet and form long-term relationships with peers, and opportunities to identify and connect to a rich network of other helpful resources during a series of three retreats and a one-day conference from April through October 2004.  Topics include governance, strategic planning, outcomes, financial management, resource development, legal issues, conflict resolution, and much more.  Key board members (Board Chairs, Treasurers and Fundraising Chairs) are invited to attend role-specific training with their Executive Directors.

The attached materials, which include the 2004 Application Form and Program Fact Sheet, further describe the program schedule, elements and requirements.  For additional information, please be our guest at an informational briefing from 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 9 at the Central Library of the Enoch Pratt Free Library or contact Ted Gross at the Foundation (tgross@theweinbergfoundation.org; 410-654-8500).

Program information, data on prior participants and their agencies, as well as electronic versions of the application materials, are also available at www.hjweinbergfoundation.org.  Applications are due by October 29.

Please note the commitments expected of Executive Directors interested in the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Fellows Program.   Attendance requirements are necessarily stringent, since the program covers crucial topics in a very compressed format.  Executive Directors who already know they cannot attend on any of the specified dates should not apply for this year’s program.

Please do feel free to duplicate and share the information and application form with colleagues, if you think this program would be useful to them as they work to improve our community.

We feel fortunate to work side by side with you for a better Baltimore
