On June 24, the Weinberg Foundation hosted its first virtual Hawai‘i Jewish Leaders Convening. The Foundation has partnered with The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA), with the goal of creating and leading a coordinated approach to better serve and strengthen Hawai‘i’s Jewish community.

The initial convening, an in-person gathering, was held last December. On June 24, the Foundation and JFNA once again facilitated a discussion—this time, as a virtual meeting—with nearly 80 Jewish community leaders, sharing progress on critical initiatives identified from December, as well as discussing the impact of COVID-19 on organizations and communities.

Four of the Foundation’s trustees participated in the virtual gathering, which was led by Rachel Garbow Monroe, Weinberg Foundation President and CEO; Corbett Kalama, Executive Vice President-Chief Operating Officer – Hawaiʻi Office; and Mark Gurvis, Executive Vice President, The Jewish Federations of North America. The next steps are underway, and plans for the next convening, in-person or virtual, will soon be announced.
