Dear Weinberg Foundation Grant Recipient:

I am e-mailing you on behalf of the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation for two purposes. This letter does not have to do with your grant in any official contractual capacity. The only purpose of this letter is to make two requests regarding the promotion of grants awarded by the Weinberg Foundation.

Request #1 - Photographs

As a grant recipient during the Foundation’s fiscal year, there is the possibility your grant will be included in the Foundation’s annual report. Each year, we try to include several photos to visually represent the organizations that received grants from the Foundation. The photographs typically have a wide range, from a picture of a few people engaged in a particular activity, to one person doing something relevant to the work of the organization, or the picture of a new building or a renovation. This e-mail is our formal request to you regarding photos. If you have one photograph you are able to share with the Foundation for consideration of inclusion in our annual report we would be most appreciative.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
By October 7, 2009, please e-mail jhettleman@hjweinberg.org and attach to that e-mail the following documents and information:

  1. The photograph - file format: jpeg or tif; size: at least 300 dpi at 9” x 12” if possible (we have requested one photo only please...if you want to send more, please do not send more than 2-3 photos). The highest resolution, best images are greatly appreciated! (Horizontal formats are much easier for us to work with than vertical formats.)
  2. Text providing a caption for each photo (example: “Mr. Chase and Ms. White participating in the workforce program for older adults that is run by the ABC organization in City, State.”).
  3. A signed copy of the photo release (a copy of the release is provided at the end of this e-mail).
  4. Your name, title, and contact information.

(Note: if e-mail is not an option than please mail an envelope with the information requested to Julie Hettleman, Project Manager, The Weinberg Foundation, 7 Park Center Court, Owings Mills, MD 21117 with a note on the bottom that says “PHOTOS”)

We do not want to burden any organization to secure photos you do not already have — we simply hope to receive a photo from each organization that already has a photo that can be shared with the Foundation. If you are able to respond to this request, please do so by October 7, 2009. As you can imagine, we will not be able to use every photo provided, but we will use many of them for the annual report, for the web site, and so forth.

Request #2 - About Our Grantees

In addition to collecting photographs for use in the Foundation’s annual report, website, etc., the Weinberg Foundation is currently revising its website. One of the goals of the renovation is to make the site friendlier and easier for grant applicants to learn about prior Weinberg Foundation grants. More than 120,000 unduplicated individuals visit the Foundation’s website each year, and this
number continues to grow.

In order to move forward on a particular section of our website, the Weinberg Foundation needs your help. There will be a new section on the site for grant applicants to view which is being called About Our Grantees. In an effort to illustrate what nonprofit organizations can accomplish with funding from
the Weinberg Foundation (and other Foundations, individual donors, etc.), the Foundation is asking nonprofits to contribute to this effort by providing a testimonial.

All this will take is a three to four sentence quote or statement about what your organization has accomplished through Weinberg Foundation funds. A link from the Weinberg Foundation’s website to your organization’s website will be provided below the testimonial. At any time, a rotation of approximately a half a dozen testimonials will be available on the website (though this could grow over time and based on the response). Of course, including a photograph (as requested in #1 above) would work harmoniously with the statement and would be ideal.

Please send your “testimonial”, photo, and signed photo release (download form below) by October 7, 2009 to Julie Hettleman at jhettleman@hjweinberg.org or by mail to The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, 7 Park Center Court, Owings Mills, MD 21117.

Thank you, in advance, for taking the time to help us with this project. And thank you for all you do each and every day to make a difference in our community. We are so appreciative.

Sincerely,
