Leisel Harry has been an employee of the Weinberg Foundation since 2013. She first served as a program assistant to four of the Foundation’s program directors, then program associate until her promotion to program officer in 2020. In her role as program officer, Leisel manages the Baltimore Library Project and the Small Grants Program. In addition, she assists with the Education portfolio and leads the Trauma, Abuse, and Safety piece of the Health portfolio, while working closely with community partners to refine various strategies as well as further the goals of each portfolio.
Prior to working for the Foundation, she was the director of administration and compliance officer for Fortis College. Leisel received a full basketball scholarship in August of 2000 from Coppin State University and is a proud graduate. She was the first international student athlete to complete a bachelor’s as well as master’s degree in five years and earn the President’s Eagle Award for that accomplishment. Leisel holds a Master of Science in criminal justice administration and began working in education in 2001 as a student worker, assisting with registration, academic eligibility, and graduation requirements.
Leisel was born in Trinidad and Tobago but moved to Maryland to pursue her education. She is the mother of two boys, ages 14 and 12, enjoys travelling, event planning, and lives in Baltimore County.
