Baltimore Safe Haven develops transitional housing for LGBTQ youth

Weinberg grantee Baltimore Safe Haven is partnering with the Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services to develop a transitional housing project for LGBTQ youth—one of four youth homelessness initiatives in Baltimore started with federal funds.

This partnership will provide seven housing units for up to 25 people annually, specifically for transgender youth, and others, experiencing homelessness, as well as case management services that connect youth to primary health care and mental health services. In addition, Baltimore Safe Haven will continue programming that includes GED classes and workforce development.

The Weinberg Foundation provided an $80,000 grant for supportive and housing placement services, which will help participants achieve housing stability.
