Weinberg Foundation awards $2.75 million to strengthen LGBTQ nonprofit sector in Israel

With the help of a recent analysis from grantee Jewish Funders Network, the Weinberg Foundation has awarded $2.75 million in grants to six nonprofits in Israel over three years to help strengthen these organizations that serve LGBTQ individuals. This includes increasing access to mental health, clinical, and other services; emergency and temporary housing; employment training; and educational programs for youth. The Foundation also hopes to encourage other philanthropies to further fund such efforts.

Israel only has about 20 organizations that serve LGBTQ individuals. While there has been some progress, the sector has struggled to increase its capacity to fight institutional discrimination, advance LGBTQ rights, and develop adequate networks of service providers to meet basic needs.
