National Affinity Group on Jewish Poverty and COVID-19

It’s been over a year since the National Affinity Group on Jewish Poverty launched, and the events of the past year, particularly the COVID-19 pandemic, have highlighted how essential and desperately needed this work is.

In partnership with the Jewish Funders Network (JFN), the Foundation is supporting a nationwide collaborative effort dedicated to addressing the issue of poverty within the Jewish community throughout the United States. In light of COVID-19, the affinity group has created a briefing series to focus on specific program areas and how they are affected by the pandemic, such as older adults and mental health.

The most recent briefing provided an overview of the needs of vulnerable Jews of color and Jewish communal professionals of color amid the pandemic. The briefing featured leaders of the Jews of Color Initiative COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund, including Ilana Kaufman, Executive Director of the Jews of Color Initiative. Please click here to view videos of all prior briefings.

To learn more about the working groups and briefings, you can find the most recent affinity group newsletter here, and click here to sign up for the newsletter.
