More than $9 million in recent grants announced

The Weinberg Foundation recently approved more than $9 million in grants supporting the areas of Housing, Health, Jobs, Education, and Community Services.

Housing

Stable housing provides a foundation for individuals, children, and families to lead healthy and productive lives. Without housing, people are unable to focus on education, employment, health care, and meeting other basic needs.

Crown Center
Baltimore, MD
$1,000,000 capital grant to support the construction of affordable housing, as well as community space for social activities and service delivery, for Jewish older adults.

HomeRise
San Francisco, CA
$1,000,000 capital grant to support the construction of a permanent supportive housing residence for formerly homeless single adults that will include onsite case management, health counseling, and workforce development services. https://homerisesf.org/

Puʻuhonua O Waianae 
Oahu, HI
$1,000,000 capital grant to support the construction of Puʻuhonua O Waianae Farm Village, a community-led development that will house people exiting homelessness in the rural community of Waianae. https://www.alohaliveshere.org/about

Health

Good health is essential to help people move and remain out of poverty. Poor physical or mental health can prevent or complicate the pursuit of education, employment, and other opportunities for economic mobility.

Hawai’i Island, HI

$625,000 capital grant to support the renovation of a day center for older adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, which will enable them to continue aging in their communities, with maximum quality of life. https://eng.dfhadera.org.il/

$1,000,000 capital grant to support the expansion of a rehabilitation clinic for older adults, which will enable them to continue aging in their community, with maximum quality of life. https://www.jewishhomefamily.org/

$300,000 capital grant to support the renovation and expansion of a domestic violence shelter serving women and their children. https://www.wavo.org/en

Education

Education can help break the cycle of poverty. Providing at-risk children and youth with academic opportunities helps prepare them for a stable and productive future. The Foundation is dedicated to supporting organizations that provide or supplement a high-quality education from kindergarten through high school.
