YWCA Evanston/North Shore doubles capacity with new family support center

YWCA Evanston

In Chicago, Weinberg Foundation grantee YWCA Evanston/North Shore doubles capacity for women seeking refuge from domestic violence with its newly constructed family support center.

This new center increases the number of beds from 32 to 66 and is one of the first domestic violence shelters in the nation whose design is informed by recognized principles of trauma-informed care. It also adds more space for community counseling, job training, and racial justice work.

The Foundation provided a $1 million grant toward this project.
