Grantees increase digital access in rural communities

As the COVID-19 pandemic highlights the urgent need for reliable internet, the Foundation continues to prioritize opportunities to increase digital equity in rural communities. A recent grant to Friends of the Library of Hawai‘i will support technology upgrades at Hawaiʻi State Public Libraries located in rural communities throughout the state over the next year.

Hawai‘i Workforce Funders Collaborative on a mission to help residents and economy thrive

The Weinberg Foundation, along with the Hawai‘i Community Foundation (HCF), Harold K.L. Castle Foundation, and Hawai‘i Medical Services Association (HMSA), recently launched the Hawai‘i Workforce Funders Collaborative.

 

The Collaborative is open to all private donors active in Hawai‘i workforce initiatives, and members will work together to ensure that Hawai‘i residents have access to high-quality jobs that strengthen communities, families, and the local economy.

Weinberg Foundation commits $2.5 million to nonprofits combatting antisemitism throughout the United States

The Foundation remains committed to its core mission of meeting the basic needs of people experiencing poverty and also believes it is critically important, especially in this moment, to expand upon a long-standing commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the Jewish community, including fighting hate in all of its forms.

 

This commitment includes support for national organizations focused on combatting and dismantling antisemitism and white supremacy, as well as additional security for Jewish communities. In addition, funding will support local Jewish Federations and Jewish Community Relations Councils (JCRCs) within the Foundation’s US priority communities: Baltimore, Chicago, Hawai‘i, New York City, Northeastern Pennsylvania, and San Francisco.
