Weinberg Sector Skills Academy Participants Make Capstone Presentations

Senior professionals who provide workforce development services and technical training in the Baltimore metropolitan area, today, concluded their experience with a year-long learning and leadership opportunity—the Weinberg Sector Skills Academy. Last May, the Weinberg Foundation, in partnership with The Aspen Institute’s Workforce Strategies Initiative (AWSI) and with additional support from the Annie E. Casey Foundation and The Abell Foundation, announced this collaborative program.

This past year, 18 Academy participants attended nine retreats, meetings, and webinars. Their final component is a capstone presentation of best practices and recommendations that could promote workforce development in Baltimore. Several City and State government officials as well as business and foundation representatives will attend today’s event. Participants hope to be able to partner with these funders in the future, moving their projects from ideas to practice.

The Baltimore Workforce Funders Collaborative, which includes foundation, corporate, and government funders, provided guidance on content and national workforce experts throughout the program.
